What or who is Mr Tinto?
In Colombia we call black filtered coffee a “Tinto”, and whoever sells coffee is “ el señor de los tintos” which translates into English “Mr. Tinto”.
When I started the business, that is exactly what I was, a man selling coffee in a bicycle outside the back entrance of East Croydon Station.
It feels like a long time ago but it will always be a close memory to my heart, just like a picture on the wall.
It all began on a cold wet Monday morning on the 16th January 2017, I still remember that it was so dark it almost felt like it was night time. At 6:30am my first customer arrived, a young woman who ordered a black Americano, I was so nervous but so excited at the same time. That day I sold 61 coffees and since then it has been a wonderful adventure, an adventure which has seen me grow from my humble beginnings to the business man I am today.
What is our ideology?
My ethos has always been to make and serve first class coffee that is accessible to every customer.
How have we achieved this? By cutting out the middle man and sourcing our own coffee beans directly from Colombian farms, this way we pay fair prices to the farmers and it also allows us to charge a sincere price.
